«Topographic Phase Remover», the option «External DEM» does not work

Hello everybody,
When performing the operation «Topographic Phase Remover», the option «External DEM» does not work. Here is the comparison of the results for «External DEM» and «SRTM_3Sec (Auto Download)»:

But there is no SRTM for my territory of interest (further north than 60 N).
Please explain to me how to use the «External DEM»?
I use SNAP 2.0.2

Thank you very much, it helped me to understand the
subject.

but replacing DEM “auxdate / dem” directory
(ACE30, ASTER, SRTM) with my DEM did not give any positive results.
