Could someone explain me the difference between Ascending Orbit and Descending Orbit please? I mean does Ascending mean that the image’s been taken during the night (or the day)? I’m trying to find something on internet anyway…

not necessarily by night, but when the satelite passes from the south pole to the north.
For right-looking satellites such as Sentinel-1 this clearly affects the distortions of the image, e.g. where shadow and layover occur.
