Avalanche detection in SNAP with Sentinel SAR

yes, this works, open the band properties of Sigma0_VV (and Sigma0_VH), and enter in the Valid Pixel Expression
layover_shadow_mask_VH != 5
The polarization does not matter here because the acquisition geometry is the same for both bands.

Hello ABraun
I have tried the above method for several files, but it seems my area where avalanches occured is falling on the shadow region. is there any method to completely remove the shadow from the file?

it’s not possible to remove shadow because no signal is received from these areas, but you can search for images of a different look direction (descending instead of ascending)

Hello ABraun
I am applying terrain correction on my images, but every time it stops at 20% then i had to cancel it, but it hangs. I have also tried changing the system, but no luck.
could you please tell me what’s wrong with my data.

Thankyou
