HH & HV Availability

I’m trying to find a reference for the reduced availability of the single- and dual-pol HH/HV products. I’ve carried out a search of the SciHub catalogue which (as of yesterday) was showing 3 times as many VV+VH as HH+HV.

I’ve not found any literature that specifies the reason for the disparity.

VV+VH is the default IW mode over land, HH+HV over sea. S1 acquires mostly over land.
