Mask out SAR Shadow

I am wondering whether there is any way to get rid of SAR shadows using the SNAP? Or how can we mask it out?

Any specific image pre-processing recommended (e.g., where open water body extraction is concerned)?

Thanks

shadow in a SAR image results from the incidence angle at locations where the signal doesn’t reach the ground. This information cannot be restored unless you make a merge from images of ascending and descending tracks.

However, if you consider topographic variations (low signal due to areas facing away from the sensor) you can apply correction to beta naught and then use the radiometric terrain flattening.
