Merging two different satellite images with nearby dates, is it ok to do that.?

Hello I have a simple doubt, So I am “Chl A” imagery for my analysis and
I have to scan a bigger area which needs me to collect two images side by side. But on the same day,
the other image has a high amount of cloud cover, so I had to select an image from a nearby date.
Is it ok if I merge the two and show as one, even if the sensing dates are different.?

Thank you

Sincerely
Rocktim

Hi @Rocktim,

Depending on the analysis your are doing. If there is no other solution for you (move your study area, select another time), your target is not very dynamic and you do not expect a lot change it can be ‘okay’ although it is not best practice so to say.

Hi MCG

Thank you so much for the reply. I also wanted to know which band or reflectance “nm”
to select when working with “Chl a” analysis. Like the band. Any insight on that.?

Usually you don’t use a single band to get chl.
Check the C2RCC processor or the MPH/CHL.
They will give you chl values
