Multi-temporal speckle filtering for flood evolution mapping

Is it sensible to use multi-temporal speckle filtering when analysing temporal changes in flood extent, which will be seasonal? Would it be best for me to speckle filter each image individually before coregistering/stacking the images?

Stack/coriregister first and then speckle filter individually. Multitemporal filtering is not recommended.

Thanks for your answer @mengdahl , I’ll do that. Why is it important to stack/coregister the images first when applying the speckle filter to each image individually?

That depends on the coregistration-method. If it’s based on image cross-correlations speckle filtering in effect low-pass filters the images so cross-correlation is more likely to fail.
