Number of looks (multilook) is there a range?

Good afternoon,I would need to know if there is a standard range of values for the number of looks (range and azimuth) to be inserted in the multilook operation @ABraun @mengdahl

as multi-looking is an optional step, there is no standard which could be suggested.
It totally depends on

  • the spatial resolution of your input image and the ratio between azimuth and range resolution
  • the spatial resolution you need in your final image
  • the degree of speckle present in your image

It is always a compromise between image enhacement and loss of information.
