PC requirements for running SNAP

I have a question concerning the minimum required specifications of my PC that is needed in order to run the SNAP toolbox comfortably.

I have a quad core Intel Xeon 2.6GHZ processor running a 64 bit Operating System (Windows) with 16gb of Installed RAM.
However, when processing Sentinel 2 data (e.g. Making NDVI or RGB layer ) It still takes me some time. For example, making

A NDVI layer took me 33 minutes.

Are the specifications of my PC up to par? Would a different operating system boost performance?
Or does it really just take that long?

Kind regards,

Often the majority of “wall time” is used in I/O operations. Therefore a fast SSD disk can make a major difference in performance.
