Unable to connect to the SNAP Community Extensions because of Timeout

When I try to update SNAP on my Mac I get the following prompt:

"Unable to connect to the SNAP Community Extensions because of Timeout while opening connection to http://step.esa.int/updatecenter/5.0/snap-community/updates.xml.gz

Check your proxy settings or try again later. The server may be unavailable at the moment. You may also want to make sure that your firewall is not blocking network traffic."

I have deleted SNAP and have tried to reinstall to correct the issue. It does nothing for me. The reason I am trying to update in the first place is because I am missing the “options” menu from the “Tools” drop-down bar which is limiting my ability to complete an assignment for a class.

My two part question: Does anyone know why I am missing the “options” in the “Tools” drop-down bar and does anyone know why I am unable to update?

Maybe our server had some issues. I’ve tried it right now and it works.

That you don’t see this menu is because you are on a Mac.
For Mac users it is in the menu at “snap / Preferences”
This is done to be conform to Mac guidelines.
