Unable to zoom closer than about 1:20

I have successfully created an RGB image, but when I zoom in, nothing further happens closer than about 1:20 (the slider moves but the picture doesn’t change). That is apart from one occasion, when zooming in resulted in a display of magnified pixels. I have tried resampling, to no effect.

Am I probably doing something wrong, or could this be a result of using a fairly standard Macbook Pro, which may not have sufficient image-rendering capabilities?

What product are you using? Thanks in advance.

I’ve tried snap and qgis.
Am I wrong in assuming that what I see should be at a higher resolution than google maps?
Thanks.
Tony.

It is not necessarily higher resolution than google maps which might use plane photos and not only satellites photos.

OK thank you. That’s helpful.
It’s a pity google maps is so out of date though!
