Is anyone actually using the Orfeo Toolbox adapters we have in SNAP? Please let us hear from you.

The segmentation approaches are great in principle, but at the moment they only create raster output which cannot be processed further. If it would create vectors (e.g. with average band statistics) it would probably be used more.
