Level-2A product distribution will start on 26 March 2018

Hello,

I don’t know if you’re aware, but this News Item (https://scihub.copernicus.eu/news/News00305) might be of interest.

Also, I note:

It is further highlighted that the operational Level-2A production starting on start on 26 March will tag every new Level-2A product with the processing baseline number 02.07, as opposed to the former pilot production featuring the baseline number 02.06. The pilot production in baseline 02.06 will stop on the same day.

Is this global? Or just for Europe?

@jace
Hello,

The news item I linked to says “…coverage of the Euro-Mediterranean region”.

Does anyone has updated information on when the Level-2a product will be availably globally?

The only reference I got is:
“Level-2A products are systematically generated at the ground segment over Europe, but the production will be extended to global by the end of 2018”
([https://earth.esa.int/web/sentinel/user-guides/sentinel-2-msi/product-types/level-2a])

However, they say that the “production” will be extended to global by end of 2018. Which does not mean that Level-2a is globally availavle via SciHub by the end of 2018?!

Hello,

I’m not clear on what you’re getting at, here.
Production is the acquisition and processing of the data from S2A and S2B by the PDGS. The products are delivered to Users via a number of interfaces - including the Copernicus Hub (https://scihub.copernicus.eu/dhus/#/home) . So L2A data will be acquired globally - and delivered to Users - by the end of 2018.
