Snap works very slow

Hi, i’m trying to do interferometric measurement for Sentinel-1 images but snap is not working well on My laptop…It crash every 3 minutes! Is there any other free program that i can use?

Sentinel-1 SLC products are very large and require special processing because of the TOPS imaging mode.
I have opened them in ERDAS Imagine once and it took the same time to load and process them.

Do you have a chance to increase your RAM?

Besides that, if you apply the TOPS Split operator as a first step, you can considerably reduce the image data.

is a very good first step, if you are not able to change your hardware, even spatial subsetting after you extracted your subswath might help you furthermore. But be sure to copy the metadata during subsetting. However, if you are able to change your hardware setup, in addition to RAM consider using a SSD to write your output files to. The input files can still be located on a HDD…This helped me a lot in order to speed things up

Good Luck!

I can’t change the hw right now…anyway i can’t apply TOPS Split cause Is not processing…snap don’t even shows the map

Maybe this can help you to get things started and until you are able to change your local setup.

The RUS service provides you with a cloud based working environment where also SNAP is installed. Check the website above, you have to read through some information and guidelines but I think it is worth it under your circumstances.

Another alternative to this could be the ESA RSS Cloudtoolbox services, which can also provide you the VM in DIAS (if requested) with direct access to the Copernicus Sentinel data (having it accessible locally, not even download is required)

I hope this helps

Does this mean, StaMPS, matlab, snap2stamps…etc.?

I was granted a RSS Toolbox and could install python, snap2stamps, StaMPS and Matlab (you must have a license for it).

Did you mean the license for only matlab?

yes, you are asked for your Mathworks account upon the installation of Matlab.

@mdelgado Thank you for this suggestion. I hope it will work for me as well.

Dear @falahfakhri it’s not possible that you know people who have support from RUS for more than 5 years because this project has started only 2 years ago. ESA is supporting scientists, researchers from all over the world but of course with bigger focus on Europe (because member countries are paying for all of these). You can ask for similar service on DIAS for example https://creodias.eu/what-we-offer
