Snow cover areas

I would like to use sentinel-1 data to compute snow cover areas . But I do not know how to do. The sentinel-1 picuture has two polarization models:vv and vh. I am very interested in using sentinel-1 to survey snow cover. Would you please tell me the simple polarization combination to see the snow cover areas clearly, or any other methods, or articles that have published introducing algorithm to recognize snow cover regions .
Thank you very much.

did you already have a look at the examples at ESA’s Sentinel-1 page?

Not much information on it but could be a start: http://www.copernicus.eu/sites/default/files/documents/Copernicus_Briefs/Copernicus_Brief_Issue25_SnowMonitoring_Sep2013.pdf

@warrenfw Could you find any solution to your problem? I am stuck in a similar issue.
