Yes, it appears the default site it downloads from is down.
You can edit the snap.auxdata.properties file found in the install folder/etc folder and change the URL to something else like
http://srtm.csi.cgiar.org/SRT-ZIP/SRTM_V41/SRTM_Data_GeoTiff/
I’ll update the defaults to include some mirrors.
