Unable to open obpg L2 nc files

Hi all

I responded to the notification that there was a version 8 of SNAP by installing. After, I am now unable
to open L2 SST or OC files in the netcdf format that one downloads from obpg. This worked find before I installed the new version.

I uninstalled v8 and reinstalled v7 and it still fails. Any help would be appreciated.

When I open level-3 mapped files I get a choice of NetCDF or NetCDF4-CF. OBPG files are NetCDF4-CF. I just opened and viewed the chlor_a band of V2020168173000.L2_JPSS1_OC.nc:

 % sha1sum V2020168173000.L2_JPSS1_OC.nc
dc2def4df0e3cf7baa72bfb038f7f6d00524f1f0 *V2020168173000.L2_JPSS1_OC.nc

in Windows 10 using SNAP 8.02 without being offered the choice of formats.

It would be helpful to know the name of a file (available from the NASA download site) that fails as well as your OS version. In the past there have been conflicts between AV software and NASA data files. You should use NASA’s file search tool to get the sha1sums of data files and
verify that your files are not corrupt.

Thanks for such a rapid response!

I’m working with Win10.
One of several files that fails to open is
AQUA_MODIS.20030818T181506.L2.SST.x.nc

This was obtained as part of a search result at

If I select File/Import/Generic/NetCDF (Generic)
the file is imported. But File/Open does not work. Further,
if I look at the list of file types in the file selection menu, nc is not
in the list at all. Am I just remembering how this works incorrectly?
Has this always been the case?

FYI, something else I know has worked in the past also fails.

When I attempt to conduct a geometric operation on any nc file I have like
Raster/Geometric Operations/Reprojection, attempting to select an input product
to reproject results in an error shown in the image.

This worked fine prior to today.

After installing snap 9, I can not open cf files from sentinel 5, trying to open the so2 file, any idea?
