Super , thank You
has anybody heard news about this? So far I havenât seen any possibility to get the ScanSAR data for free.
Looking for the update release of ALOS Palsar.
By the way, is there anyone search and download free Radarsat? I am looking for some specific scenes taken during historical floods. There were only three available Radarsat-1 images in 1998, 1999 and 2001 exist in my study area. Unluckily, they are not the date I need. ;(
This is the website for seaching RadarSat

I am only aware of Radarsat-1 products which are available here (both contain only parts of the entire archive)
This thread hasnât seen any action in a bit, but was wondering if anyone knows anything about the release of PALSAR-2 data? I have occasionally looked to see if it has been made available, but havenât found anything of use.
Thanks!
My latest news for ALOS-2 data are from this site - https://gportal.jaxa.jp/gpr/search?tab=1
Any news about the ways to get the data?
Has anyone heard latest newe about ALOS free dataset availability?
Still no news, sadly.
Iâve sent an email to JAXA and their reply was:
Thank you again for your e-mail.
All data of ALOS-2 is now under processing, and we are not able to say when it will be open to the public.
I was at the Living Planet Symposium a couple of weeks ago and someone from JAXA mentioned that it has been made freely available in theory. The issue is that there are no platforms set up yet to distribute it freely. I also spoke with someone from ASF and they will have it on their platform from the end of this year. It may take a while for the full data to become available though due to the work involved.
I received an email from someone at JAXA who said they donât have the infrastructure for the massive data distribution but that thereâs an agreement with ESA to distribute the data. Basically, as soon as ESA and ASF have set up the infrastructure, this data should be openly available. Does anyone who works with ESA have an idea of when the data might be ready? Thanks
I just talked to a local ALOS reseller here in the Philippines and they have confirmed that it is free. But i still have to pay the reseller companyâs flat processing fee since they will be the ones getting the data for me. But at least this makes ALOS-2 much more accessible because i can order imagery for a full timeseries analysis.
While the data is still not publicly available check your local ALOS reseller.
See the partner list here:
Waiting ASF and ESA to open the option to use ALOS-2 data
Does anyone have any updates or know of any portals where the data is freely accessible?
ALOS series Open and Free Dataď˝ALOS@EORC in this link it looks like they have started sharingâŚBut I have not tried downloading yetâŚ
Some are available on Google Earth Engine now - mainly for Asia it looks like (the full time-series). Hopefully, theyâll become available for elsewhere soon. The ones from G-Portal can be found with a search, but donât seem to be available for download yet.
Thanks for this update. Great to see that the data is finally getting released.
Did you have any luck downloading through the JAXA G-Portal? Either I am missing something or the data rollout is still ongoing with non yet available in my ROI.
The JAXA G-Portal seems to be queryable, and will produce results that link to https://satpf.jp/spf/ for download. From what I can tell, all PALSAR-2 data has the âGet Dataâ button disabled for resampled data, and links to https://satpf.jp/spf/ to download the original data, but I have been unable to get this site to load.
If anyone has any insight it would certainly be welcome. It seems like the only option right now is to use Google Earth Engine.
Make sure it is only ScanSAR imagery that you are trying to download. When youâve searched for imagery over an AOI for your specific time period, images that you can download will have a âDownloadâ button in the data manipulation column. The scenes should then end up in the Production status tab once you click the download button. In my experience, ordering the data is done entirely through the gportal website. Also, it seems very recent ScanSAR images arenât available for order.
Just following up with an update on this, JAXA has recently announced they have also made L1.1 data from 2014 to 2023. Thus far I have downloaded some L1.1 data but am noticing they are failing to open in SNAP unfortunately due to a reading issue.
How do you download the L1.1 data? It says to download it from the G-Portal but when I try to get it it just links me to https://satpf.jp. The âGet Dataâ button is still greyed out.
